Take the pressure off your creative thinking
Does your job involve the pressure of needing to regularly think of creative ideas? Whether your profession is in web design, art, illustration, graphic design, branding, fashion, music, sculpture or any other creative industry then you will no doubt have had periods when the pressures of thinking up a fantastic, creative idea becomes too much.
There are often many people looking to you for the creative brilliance. Something unique and extraordinary that has never before been done. Before you know it an element of panic and fear can set in as the deadline approaches and the initial idea you had now doesn’t seem so good. We’ve all been there.
However, according to Elizabeth Gilbert, author of “Eat, Pray, Love”, there is an alternative way of looking at that elusive creative genius which can help reduce stress and increase productivity.
In this fascinating TED talk Elizabeth “muses on the impossible things we expect from artists and geniuses — and shares the radical idea that, instead of the rare person “being” a genius, all of us “have” a genius.”
